Our take: A capable $99 plan: live transfers with backup numbers, booking into Housecall Pro, texting and a CRM on one bill. The catch is 200 minutes. OnCrew costs less at every call volume we modeled, and the sales pages promise integrations the help center doesn't document.

Best for
Small shops with modest call volume that want emergency transfers and booking on one plan, especially Housecall Pro users

What My AI Front Desk is

It's a general small-business front office with a phone receptionist inside, not a trade tool. AI Front Desk, Inc. is based in New York and now brands the product "Frontdesk." It has receptionist pages for HVAC, plumbers, electricians, contractors and home services, next to pages for property managers, real estate and law firms. The trade pages share the same text with the trade name swapped.

Here's how it works. The AI gets its own number and you forward your business line to it. It answers 24/7 from what it learns from your website and a knowledge base, takes the details you ask for, and alerts you by email or text. The same plan also covers website chat, texting, email follow-ups and a CRM.

There's one self-serve plan. The pricing page FAQ says there are no separate Starter or Pro tiers, and no permanently free plan.

Read the overage rules before you sign up. Past 200 minutes, every minute costs 25 credits. You get 1,000 credits a month (about 40 extra minutes), and they expire at month end. When they run out, auto-reload buys 1,000 more for $10, and purchased credits don't expire. Texts, chats and form leads past their allowances draw from the same credits.

What your month costs

Illustrative math, not data: our example call counts at an average of 3 minutes a call. Effective cost = $99 + 25¢ for each minute past 200, minus the $10 of included credits. Auto-reload buys credits in $10 blocks, and leftovers carry over.
Calls / monthMinutesMy AI Front DeskRosie (by minutes)OnCrew (by answered call)
40≈120$99$49$49
65≈195$99$49$49
100≈300$114$149$49
150≈450$151.50$149$98.50
300≈900$264$149$149
600 (heat wave or storm month)≈1,800$489$299$347

On price alone, it rarely wins. It beats Rosie only between about 85 and 145 calls a month: that's past the 250 minutes on Rosie's $49 plan, but before 25¢ minutes add up to more than Rosie's $149 plan. OnCrew bills per answered call ($49 for 100, then $0.99 each) and comes out cheaper at every volume in this table. What the extra money buys here is the bundle: texting, web chat, a CRM and Housecall Pro booking.

Illustrative example, not data: say a normal month brings 60 calls and a storm week adds 150 more. At 3 minutes each, that's about 630 minutes, so the month comes to about $197 instead of $99.

How it handles calls

Call routing is the strongest part, but you build the emergency logic yourself.

Illustrative example, not data: picture a burst-pipe call at 11 PM. You write a transfer rule such as "caller reports active water leak or no heat." The AI hot-transfers the call to your on-call tech, reads them a short summary first, and tries the owner's cell if the tech doesn't pick up. If nobody answers, it goes back to the caller and finishes the intake.
  • Transfers: cold transfers pass the caller's number through. Hot transfers add a spoken AI summary (a "whisper"), backup numbers tried in order, "blast" numbers that ring at once (first to answer gets the call), and a return to the caller if the transfer fails. Each rule can follow business hours, weekends or a custom schedule. One catch: the pricing table lists "2 of each" agent action on Business-in-a-Box, while the help center describes up to 100 scenarios. Ask support how many transfer rules your plan allows before you build them.
  • Emergencies: no built-in trade triage. The home-services emergency example is assembled from general workflow blocks that, the vendor says, "also run for any industry." You decide what counts as urgent and who gets it.
  • Intake: intake forms ask your questions in order, such as name, service address and what's wrong, and save the answers as tickets.
  • Alerts: email or text for calls, voicemails, bookings and custom scenarios such as "After-Hours Emergency," to up to three recipients on this plan.
  • Booking: books into its own calendar (synced with Google Calendar) or into Housecall Pro when connected. It can also text callers a booking link or directions during the call.
  • Spanish and other languages: the pricing page advertises 20+ languages. With more than English on, every caller hears a language menu first, and the help center quotes its own dashboard warning that "90% of callers hang up" at that prompt. The help center also says multiple languages depend on your plan. Turn on Spanish only if a real share of your callers need it, and test it during the trial.
  • Logs: each call has a recording, transcript and summary. The $99 plan keeps only the last 200 logs, so download them if you need records.
  • Volume: the vendor says there's no limit on calls at the same time.

Integrations

Housecall Pro is the one field-service tool its help center documents, and it books jobs, not just logs them. You connect with a Housecall Pro API key, pick which actions to allow, and set an appointment length. Your Housecall Pro plan must include API access (OnCrew's and Rosie's docs put that on Housecall Pro's MAX plan). Each Housecall Pro feature runs as one or more API workflows, and the $99 plan's pricing table lists 2 of each agent action, so confirm which ones you can switch on. The help center also covers Google Calendar, Zapier, HubSpot, GoHighLevel and webhooks. API access to My AI Front Desk itself is Enterprise-only.

Check the sales pages against the help center

Trust the pricing page and help center over the trade landing pages. Several landing pages contradict them:

  • The plumber and HVAC pages claim native sync with ServiceTitan, Jobber, FieldEdge and ServiceFusion. The help center's integration list doesn't include them. If you run Jobber or ServiceTitan, ask for a live demo of that connection before you count on it.
  • The same pages promise a "flat plan" with "no per-call overage." That's true only in the narrowest sense: the pricing page charges 25¢ a minute past 200 minutes.
  • The homepage FAQ still describes a Free plan. The pricing FAQ says there's no permanently free plan.

Phone systems it works with

Setup is simple: keep your number and forward it. The forwarding guide covers iPhone, Android, landlines and VoIP systems such as RingCentral, Grasshopper, Google Voice, Dialpad and Nextiva. You can also use the AI's number as your main line. Careful with the iPhone QR "instant setup": it forwards all calls from that phone to the AI, not just the ones you miss.

Trial, billing and cancellation

No contract, but treat the trial like a purchase: the terms are strict and the card question is murky. Set a reminder for day 6.

  • Trial: 7 days. The pricing and signup pages say no credit card is required. The Terms (updated October 18, 2026) say that if you continue after the trial, "your provided payment method will be charged," and that you owe usage fees even during the trial. One June 2026 Trustpilot reviewer says the trial required a card and the first charge came on day 8.
  • Billing: monthly, or annual at $79 a month. Subscriptions renew automatically. No contract.
  • Refunds: the Terms say refunds are "generally not provided," with exceptions at the company's discretion.
  • Cancel: in Settings → Subscription, or through customer service. The flow may offer a retention deal or a pause first. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period.
  • Before you cancel: turn off call forwarding on your phone line, or calls keep going to the AI number.
  • Support: chatbot and email on this plan. No support hours or response time are published.

What users say

Independent reviews are thin and split, and the complaints are about money and support. Trustpilot shows 3.4 out of 5 from 19 reviews (checked October 20, 2026). The positive reviews praise easy setup and call handling. The one-star reviews describe charges after the trial, refused refunds, slow support and, in October 2026, errors creating an account. Trustpilot marks the company as not replying to negative reviews. Capterra has one review (2.0). G2 has a listing we couldn't load, and third-party reports of its rating disagree, so the User reviews category isn't scored.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

Pros (from vendor info)

  • One $99 plan with hot transfers, backup numbers and ring-all
  • Books into Housecall Pro during the call
  • Overage rate published (25¢ a minute)
  • Texting, web chat, follow-up sequences and a CRM included
  • Forwarding guides for cell, landline and VoIP
  • No contract; monthly or annual

Cons / watch-outs

  • 200 minutes covers about 66 three-minute calls
  • Costs more than OnCrew at every volume we modeled, and more than Rosie outside about 85 to 145 calls a month
  • No built-in trade triage
  • Spanish puts a language menu in front of every caller
  • Jobber and ServiceTitan sync claimed on sales pages, not documented
  • Strict terms: usage billed during the trial, refunds generally not given

Buy it if you run Housecall Pro, take about 150 calls a month or fewer, and want the AI to book jobs onto your schedule and hot-transfer urgent calls with backups. It's also a fit if you'd actually use the texting, web chat and CRM it bundles.

Skip it if you take a lot of calls (OnCrew bills per answered call and costs less at volume), you need booking into Jobber (Wakeman documents it), or you only need messages taken (Rosie starts at $49).

FAQ

How much does My AI Front Desk cost?

Business-in-a-Box is $99 a month, or $79 a month billed annually ($948 a year), with 200 voice minutes. Extra minutes cost 25 credits (25¢) each after the 1,000 credits included every month. Enterprise is quoted. Checked October 20, 2026.

Is there a free plan?

No. The pricing page says there's no permanently free plan, though the homepage FAQ still mentions one. You get a 7-day trial.

Do I need a card for the free trial?

The pricing and signup pages say no. The Terms say your payment method is charged if you continue after the trial and that usage fees apply during it, and one reviewer says a card was required. Check the signup screen, and cancel before day 7 if it isn't working.

Does it work with Jobber, Housecall Pro or ServiceTitan?

Housecall Pro is documented: the AI can book and manage appointments during calls if your Housecall Pro plan includes API access. Jobber and ServiceTitan appear on sales pages but not in the help center, so ask for a demo before you rely on them.

Can it send emergency calls to my on-call tech?

Yes, with transfer rules you write. A hot transfer reads your tech a summary, can try backup numbers or ring several phones at once, and returns to the caller if nobody answers. There's no built-in trade triage.

Does it speak Spanish?

It advertises 20+ languages. Turning on more than English plays a language menu at the start of every call, and the vendor warns many callers hang up there. The help center says multiple languages depend on your plan, so test it during the trial.

Have you tested My AI Front Desk?

Not yet. This review and its score are based on the vendor's pricing page, trade pages, help center and Terms, plus Trustpilot and Capterra listings (checked October 20, 2026).
